The International Game Developers Association has started for the GDC scholarship program. It awards about 25 students of main conference passes to the 2009 Game Developers. .Applicants must be full-time university students and may be in either graduate or undergraduate programs. Applicants must also be members of the IGDA. The application consists mostly of short essay-style writing. A panel of professional game developers, who volunteer their time, will serve as the judging committee for the applications.

Only full-time university students registered at IGDA and must be 18 years old.
