The Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is very popular in American and other European society, where it is required more because of their society structure depends on individualism rather than based on family & social support.

We Indians do lucky, as our culture promotes society based activities more and we do have more strong traditional support systems in terms of family, relatives & friends. These traditional support systems have been helping us in dealing with challenges through sharing our worries, concern & problems with others as well as in getting solution from other’s experience. Our emotions, feelings do have a more constructive outlet which resulting in lesser stress for us.

Unfortunately things are changed from last two decades exponentially, as we tend to adopt western culture more and hence go away from our roots.

Presently, it is very common for professional staying away from family for job, where they are isolated and do not have any traditional support system for them. Even those who reside at their native places, due to the hectic life style, busy schedules, competition and hunger for more success & prosperity; do not find time for managing social life. Hence the traditional supporting systems have been eroding gradually.

In absence of any traditional support system, it is essential that we ourselves independently should able to generate & maintain alternate quality support system and subsequently able to handle the life challenges more effectively.

A recent survey report indicated that in city like Mumbai, 5.5 out of 10 i.e. 55% person are having some kind of psychological problems. The smaller cities do not have such kind of survey and hence statistics are not available, but we ourselves witness the tension, stress and anxiety in our day to day life.

With this scenario, the scope of emotional intelligence in creating Happiness & Success is unquestionable. Research shows that unlike IQ, EQ can be improved significantly and also that in getting success & Happiness, the 80% factors are governed by EQ. The EQ or Emotional Intelligence is a skill, which can be improved by practice under proper guidance.

The Amity School of Governance (ASGO) was established in 2000 at the Amity Campus, Saket, New Delhi by the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF), a philanthropic organisation founded by Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Chairman and CEO of the AKC Group of Companies.
