Join as Short Service Commissioned (SSC) Officer September - 2008

Applications are invited from Indian citizens both male and female, who have passed their final MBBS examination in first or second attempt and completed internship for grant of Short Service Commission in the Army Medical Corps. Applicants who have taken more than two changes in final MBBS need not apply.

VACANCIES: 237 approximately 

QUALIFICATION : The applicant must possess medical qualification included in First/Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956. The applicant must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council/ MCI. Post graduate degree holders i.e MD/MS/MCh/DM may also apply. PG Degree in following subjects will be given preference:
(a) Anaesthesia
(b) Surgery
(c) Obstetrics & Gynaecology,
(d) Medicine.

Note: Candidates who will be completing internship by the last date of submission of application may also apply.

AGE LIMIT: The candidate must not have attained 45 years of age on 31 Dec 2008.

METHOD OF SELECTION : Eligible candidates will be called for interview by a Board of Officers in the month of Nov/Dec 2008 at Army Hospital (Research &Referral) New Delhi near Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Cantt. to assess their suitability and merit for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services. PHYSICAL & MEDICAL STANDARD: Every candidate on his/ her having been qualified in interview will be produced before a duly constituted Medical Board by DGAFMS for examining his or her medical fitness as per laid down standards.

The Indian Navy - Join in the Short Service Commission Observer Officer in the Aviation Cadre of Executive Branch

1. Applications are invited from unmarried Men and Women candidates for Short Service Commission (Observer Officer) in the Aviation Cadre of Executive Branch of the Indian Navy for Course commencing July 2009 at Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala. Candidates to fulfill condition of nationality as laid down by the Government of India.

ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS 

2. Age 19 to 23 years, born between 02 July 1986 and 01 July 1990: both dates inclusive.

3. Educational Qualifications.: A candidate must be a graduate in any discipline with an aggregate of 55% marks. The candidate must have passed 10 + 2 with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects.

4. Physical Standards 

(a) Height and Weight: Minimum height-162.5 cms with correlated weight, leg length, sitting height and thigh length for both Men and Women candidates.

(b) Eye Sight.: The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision 6/6, 6/9 correctable to 6/6, 6/6. Should not be colour/night blind.

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION 

5. Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 10 years, extendable to 14 years, subject to service requirement performance & willingness of the candidate. On completion of these tenures, officers are entitled for gratuity under the extant rules. Disciplined life, leadership qualities and professional skills imbibed during the service would stand as added advantages in acquiring second career post exit from the Navy.

SELECTION PROCEDURE 

7. (a) Candidates will be issued call up for Service Selection Board (SSB) interview based on their marks in educational qualification. If a candidate possesses higher qualification with better percentage, his higher qualification will be considered for cut off. Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) (IHQ-MoD (Navy)) reserves the right to short-list applications and to fix cut off percentage without assigning any reason. No communication will be entertained on this account.

(b) SSB interviews for short-listed candidates will be scheduled during Feb to Apr 09 at Bangalore.

(c) The total duration of SSB interviews is five days, consisting of stage I (Day one) and stage II (Four days). Stage I Tests, consist of Intelligence Tests, Picture Perception and Group Discussion Tests. Candidates who fail to qualify in Stage I will be sent back on the same day from SSB Centre. Stage II Tests consists of Psychological Tests, Group Task Tests and Interview. Successful candidates will thereafter undergo Special Medical Examination at the same venue (approx duration 3-5 days)

(d) Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit will be appointed for training in Order of all India Merit depending on the number of vacancies.

(e) Change of SSB Centre for interview is not permissible under any circumstance.

(f) Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates be addressed to the President of the SSB on receipt of call up letter and copy endorsed to Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment (OI&R), Room No 204, `C wing, Sena Bhavan, IHQ-MoD (N), New Delhi-110011 (Fax No: 011-23011282).

(g) No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained as a result of tests.

TRAINING 

8. The training is scheduled to commence in the month of Jul 2009.

9. Candidates will be inducted as officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Ezhimala , Kerala followed by professional training at various Naval Training Establishments/ Units/Ships. Full pay and allowances are admissible to officers whilst under training. They will be on probation for a period of two years, during which they are liable to be discharged if their performance is unsatisfactory.

10. Only unmarried candidates are eligible to undergo training. Any candidate who is found to be married or marries while under training will be discharged and shall be liable to refund full pay & allowances drawn by him and expenditure incurred on him by the Government.`

There is no age limit and a candidate can appear in CEED any number of times.

Institute Wise Eligibility

A) For IISc. – Bangalore – M.Des: 

Eligibility for applying to M.Des. programme is a degree in engineering /design / architecture. Selection for admission is based on performance in a design aptitude test (DAT) and interview to be conducted at the Centre towards the end of April /early May. Short-listing for DAT is done on the basis of applicants’ CEED or GATE score.

Candidates who are awaiting their CEED/GATE score can apply by quoting their CEED/GATE registration number. Institute will get their scores from the CEED/GATE office.

B) For IIT – Bombay 

The candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks (50% in case of SC/
ST) or equivalent grades in the qualifying examination (as listed below). Candidates with 45% or higher marks with relevant experience of 2 years and exceptionally outstanding portfolio may also be considered.

Industrial Design: 
i. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/ Interior Design, or equivalent

ii. Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent)

Visual Communication, Animation and Interaction Design:

i. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design/Interior Design, or equivalent

ii. Professional Diploma in Design (NID/CEPT, or equivalent)

iii. B.F.A. (4 year professional programme, after 10+2)

C) For IIT – Delhi 

Applicants for the M.Des. Industrial Design Programme at IIT Delhi must have minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or 60% marks in aggregate for General Category. For the reserved category, this is relaxed by 5%.

Candidates should confirm their eligibility and CEED score requirements from prospectus available at the IIT Delhi website. Full-time sponsored candidates are also advised to clear the CEED Test which is essentially an aptitude test. There is also reservation of seats for OBC Candidates. D) IIT – Guwahati – M.Des: 

a. 4-year Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a Design related field.

OR

4 year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5-year program)

b. A minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grades (50% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying degree/diploma.

E) IIT – Kanpur

Candidates having a bachelor’s degree in engineering/ design/ architecture/ fine arts and a valid CEED/GATE score are eligible to apply for the Master of Design programme. CEED/GATE score is used for short listing the applicants. The short listed applicants will be called for a written test and interview to test their creativity and inclination for innovation. Admissions will be offered on the basis of this test and interview
